The Nakuru Law Courts have found that six officers from the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) have a case to answer in connection with the alleged disappearance of fisherman Brian Odhiambo.
In a statement, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) said the officers — Francis Wachira, Alexander Lorogoi, Isaac Ochieng Odhiambo, Michael Wabukala, Evans Kimaiyo, and Abdulrahaman Ali Sudi — are accused of abducting Odhiambo on January 18, 2025, in Bondeni, Nakuru East Sub-County, with the intention of unlawfully detaining him.

The six denied the charges before Magistrate Kipkurui Kibelion.
Prosecutors Win Kihumba and Dan Smith Mbalasi told the court that evidence presented showed Odhiambo had been arrested during an operation at Lake Nakuru National Park before he allegedly disappeared while in the officers’ custody.
After evaluating the prosecution’s case, the court determined that there was enough evidence to require the officers to mount a defence. The matter has been scheduled for a defence hearing on June 8, 2026.
Earlier court proceedings heard testimony from Chief Inspector Julius Muhuri, who placed the officers at the scene. He said mobile phone data indicated that Odhiambo’s phone was in close proximity to those of the suspects between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. — the period he was reportedly arrested for allegedly trespassing into the park for illegal fishing.
Muhuri also told the court that KWS rangers did not record any arrest or escape involving Odhiambo in the occurrence book, though an entry was later noted in the remarks section.
