Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has accused President William Ruto’s administration of engaging in “planned corruption.”

Musyoka claimed that there is significant corruption within the government, which is undermining the delivery of services to the public.
He pointed to the controversial Adani deals concerning airport leasing and power transmission, which were cancelled by President Ruto after widespread public criticism, as examples of budgeted corruption designed to enrich influential individuals.
“Why would someone seek power, gain everything, and lose their soul? That’s what the Bible asks. We rejected the Adani airport deals, and they gave up. We’re still waiting to see if they’ve fully abandoned the Adani deal. They took control of the energy sector,” Musyoka said.
“The same Adani is now in the health sector. They’ve also affected teachers, who are not receiving their insurance benefits. They must have seen billions of shillings in there. These are the same people who talk about billions of shillings while our people are dying of hunger,” he added.
The Adani Group, led by Indian billionaire Gautam Adani, had planned to expand Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and work on a major power transmission project before these plans were scrapped by President Ruto in November.
The former Vice President, who also served as Foreign Minister, was speaking at the funeral of Mzee James Mwilu in Kombe Village, Machakos County.
Musyoka’s comments came in response to Machakos Senator Agnes Kavindu’s remarks about the collapse of the country’s health sector.
Regarding the African Union Commission chairperson election, where former Prime Minister Raila Odinga lost to Djibouti’s Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, Musyoka praised Odinga’s efforts and expressed hope for the new chairperson to focus on restoring peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
“As we speak, Bukavu, the second city of the Democratic Republic of Congo, has fallen to the M23 rebels. Whoever assumes the role of African Union Commission chairperson must be prepared for the difficult task of restoring peace by silencing the guns,” Musyoka said.

Simultaneously, Musyoka criticized President Ruto for his mismanagement, particularly condemning the abduction of youths and extrajudicial killings in response to anti-government protests since last year.

Addressing former Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai, who was at the funeral, Musyoka remarked that the former security chief should have used his position to prevent the declaration of President Ruto as the president-elect after the disputed 2022 General Election.
Finally, Musyoka addressed the growing infighting within the Wiper Party as the 2027 General Election approaches. He urged unity among his supporters, stating, “We must bring our people together. We should end the infighting.”
