Ruto Flies to Uganda to Attend African Union Summit

President William Ruto flew to Uganda on the morning of January 11 to participate in the African Union Extraordinary Summit on the Post-Malabo Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP).

A statement from State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed explained that the summit’s goal is to eliminate hunger and poverty in Africa through agriculture-driven policies.

During his one-day official visit, Ruto aims to highlight Kenya’s initiatives to improve food security, reduce poverty by creating jobs, and promote sustainable development.

He will also demonstrate how the summit’s objectives align with his Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which seeks to foster national prosperity through economic change.

Additionally, the President will emphasize how CAADP aligns with both Kenya’s BETA and Vision 2030, reaffirming the country’s dedication to transforming its agriculture sector.

The summit will review progress towards set targets and work towards adopting the Kampala Declaration, which outlines a collective vision for transforming agri-food systems from 2026 to 2035.

The outcomes of the summit are expected to shape policies that drive economic growth and ensure food security across Africa.

President Ruto is also scheduled to meet with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and other leaders to strengthen bilateral relations and gain support for his role as a champion of the African Union’s Institutional Reforms.
