Sakaja: Wetang’ula Will Remain National Assembly Speaker

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has dismissed claims of an alleged plot to remove Moses Wetang’ula as Speaker of the National Assembly.

While speaking at a church service in Khwisero, Kakamega County, Sakaja assured that Wetang’ula would remain in his position, stating there are no such plans to oust him. He criticized those attempting to undermine Wetang’ula’s position, urging them to abandon their aspirations.

“I was concerned when I heard rumors about Wetang’ula. He is here to stay as Speaker of the National Assembly,” Sakaja remarked. “Wetang’ula is not going anywhere. Those hoping for his seat should stop. We shouldn’t be a nation that constantly tries to bring people down.”

Sakaja also expressed his gratitude to Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, praising his leadership and close relationship with the President.

Rumors of a possible plot to remove Wetang’ula began circulating following the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Additionally, Sakaja urged Kenyans to register for the newly established Social Health Authority, highlighting the significant benefits it will bring. He explained that the initiative would help address the country’s long-standing healthcare challenges, which have often led people to rely on fundraising for medical bills. Registration, Sakaja said, will ensure resources are allocated to health facilities, ensuring drugs are available to patients at all times.

The church service, held in Ekambuli, Khwisero, was attended by President William Ruto, as well as other local leaders, including Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale, Governor Fernandes Barasa of Kakamega, and his Bungoma counterpart Kenneth Lusaka.
