KeNHA announces the reopening of the Athi River-Namanga Road following a temporary closure due to flooding at Kimalat area on Wednesday morning.
The floodwaters causing the closure have receded, according to an update from the Kenya National Highways Authority on Wednesday afternoon.

While traffic has resumed, Director General Eng Kung’u Ndung’u advises caution when approaching the Kimalat section. KeNHA has formed a unit to assist in removing obstructions from highways amidst heavy rains across the country.

This initiative aims to improve road safety by addressing issues like towing stalled vehicles that could endanger road users.
Ndung’u emphasizes the importance of safe parking on highways, stating that obstructive parking is illegal under Section 53 of the Traffic Act. Violating vehicles will be impounded, and their owners will face prosecution.
