Atwoli, the Secretary General of the Central Organisation of Trade Unions, has expressed his belief that Kalonzo Musyoka, the leader of the Wiper party, is the most suitable candidate to succeed Raila Odinga as the opposition leader.
Atwoli emphasized that should Raila assume the position of Chairperson of the African Union Commission, there would be no need for further deliberation within the opposition, as Kalonzo already possesses the necessary qualities.

Atwoli praised Kalonzo’s stature as a respected leader with a strong ethical foundation. He asserted that Kalonzo’s legal expertise, integrity, and diplomatic acumen make him an ideal choice to lead the opposition. Atwoli firmly stated that those aligned with the Azimio La Umoja coalition need not convene additional meetings to select a leader, as Kalonzo’s credentials speak for themselves.

The Cotu leader highlighted Kalonzo’s potential to bridge the divide between the government and the opposition, citing his past diplomatic achievements in countries like Sudan as evidence of his capability to foster unity and cooperation.

Atwoli stressed the importance of national collaboration for Kenya’s progress, emphasizing that Kalonzo’s leadership could facilitate such cooperation.
At the Cotu Thanksgiving prayer day attended by Azimio leaders, Kalonzo was present, further solidifying his position within the coalition.
