Even Walking just 7,000 Steps can be Good for Your Health, new Study Finds

A new study has found that walking just 7,000 steps a day can boost brain function and reduce the risk of serious diseases.

While it may not be possible for everyone to reach the previously recommended goal of 10,000 steps, even 7,000 steps can be an easy and effective way to improve health.

Research has shown that walking 7,000 steps a day increases brain function and protects against various diseases.

Reducing the risk of serious diseases

It says that walking 7,000 steps seems like a more attainable and easier goal than walking 10,000 steps.

A study published in the journal Lancet Public Health found that walking 7,000 steps a day reduces the risk of major diseases such as cancer, dementia and heart disease.

Researchers say these findings will encourage more people to get into the habit of counting their daily steps, which will also help improve their health.

Lead study author Dr. Melody Ding says, “We think we need to walk 10,000 steps a day, but there’s really no scientific evidence for this.”

Ten thousand steps is roughly equivalent to walking five miles or eight kilometers. But the exact length is different for each person, as the length of a step depends on a person’s height, gender, and walking speed. Those who walk faster or more briskly have slightly longer steps.
