Alexander Munyao, fresh off his triumph at the London Marathon, has expressed his desire to represent Kenya at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
After breaking away from a competitive field just three miles from the finish line, Munyao claimed the title in the men’s elite race with a time of two hours, four minutes, and one second on Sunday.
In a post-race interview, Munyao voiced his ambition to join the Kenyan Olympic team, believing he has the capability to represent the nation successfully. He credited his victory for boosting his confidence levels.

Reflecting on his performance, Munyao expressed pride and satisfaction, considering it his best marathon yet and indicating his hunger for more achievements in the future.
While acknowledging the tough competition, particularly from former Olympic gold medalist Kenenisa Bekele, Munyao praised his rival for making the race challenging.
The podium was completed by Great Britain’s Emile Cairess, finishing third with a time of two hours, six minutes, and 46 seconds.
The London Marathon saw 50,000 runners competing along the 26.2-mile route, starting at Blackheath and concluding at The Mall near Buckingham Palace.
Earlier in the day, Catherine Debrunner and Marcel Hug emerged victorious in the women’s and men’s elite wheelchair races respectively.
