Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has responded to Ruto’s remarks on the doctor’s strike, emphasizing that it’s taxpayer money, not the president’s personal funds, that pay for doctors’ salaries.
He criticized Ruto for suggesting that supporters of the strike should foot the bill, highlighting the government’s responsibility to allocate funds appropriately.

He also criticized the Inspector General of Police for his threats against the striking doctors, questioning his understanding of citizens’ rights to assemble peacefully. Sifuna argued that such statements demonstrated incompetence and posed a threat to law enforcement.

Additionally, Sifuna addressed Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha’s lack of constructive engagement in resolving the strike, stressing the importance of honoring the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and fulfilling government commitments.
