Stolen Lorry Recovered, Suspect Arrested

In a swift turn of events, authorities have successfully recovered a stolen Mitsubishi lorry, leading to the arrest of the prime suspect involved in the theft.

The vehicle, reported missing on April 1, 2024, sparked an intense search operation that culminated in its discovery within a garage in Karen.

The lorry, bearing the registration number KDK 583G, was reported stolen between Kenol and Makutano.

The diligent efforts of law enforcement, prompted by a report filed at the Kiamaciri Police Station by the manager of Kanini Haraka Enterprises Ltd, eventually paid off. It was found that the vehicle’s tracker had been disabled, complicating the search process.

DCI officers from Mwea West and Thika West districts played a pivotal role in tracking down the suspect, Simam Kagema Mwangi, aged 30. Mwangi was apprehended in Thika, setting the stage for the recovery of the stolen lorry.

Notably, upon further investigation, it was discovered that the vehicle was undergoing modifications within the garage to disguise its identity. Fake insurance and registration plates, with the number KCT 446R, were being fitted onto the lorry.

The suspect, Mwangi, has been placed in custody pending his arraignment scheduled for Monday, April 15, 2024.
