The government plans to transfer police officers who have been stationed in one place for more than three years in order to prevent conflicts of interest within the National Police Service.
Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kithure Kindiki emphasized the importance of this policy during a meeting with the Murang’a county security team, citing concerns that officers who remain in one location for too long may develop vested interests that hinder efforts to address criminal activities, alcoholism, and drug abuse
. Additionally, the government is committed to ending the unregulated sale of illicit liquor, with ongoing nationwide operations targeting the production, distribution, and consumption of such substances.
Kindiki stressed that these operations are not influenced by political or commercial interests and will continue until the issue is resolved.
This crackdown has already led to the arrest of numerous bar owners in Murang’a who were found to be violating liquor laws.
