The High Court has rescheduled the judgment date for Jacque Maribe, a former TV news anchor, and Jowie Irungu regarding the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani.
Originally set for March 15, the judgment date has been moved up to February 9, following agreement by all parties involved.
This decision comes after the judgment had been postponed twice previously, with Maribe’s lawyer, Katwa Kigen, citing her illness as the reason for the last delay.
Jowie Irungu is the primary defendant in Monica’s murder trial, with charges dating back to 2018, when he and Jacque Maribe were both implicated.
Monica Kimani’s body was discovered in her Lamuria Gardens Apartment, situated on Kitale Lane off Denis Pritt Road in Kilimani.
During the trial, the prosecution presented 35 witnesses who testified against the accused duo.
Despite their claims of not knowing Monica or being connected to her death, assistant DPP Gikui Gichuki has asserted that the evidence presented in court is substantial enough for conviction.
