Gor Mahia FC has celebrated their 2025/2026 SportPesa Premier League victory with a special visit to the Karen residence of the Odinga family in Nairobi.
During the visit, the club handed over both the league trophy and the ODM Cup to Kenya’s Permanent Representative to UNEP, Mama Ida Odinga, in honour of the late former Prime Minister and club patron Raila Odinga.

The delegation, led by club chairman Ambrose Rachier alongside players and technical staff, arrived shortly after their championship celebrations at Nyayo Stadium.
Rachier said the visit was a gesture of gratitude and the fulfillment of promises tied to instructions once given by the late patron.
He recalled that during a difficult period for the club, Raila had questioned their declining performance, prompting honest discussions about financial challenges. According to him, Raila later offered support and set clear targets for the team—to win both the ODM Cup in Mombasa and the league title.
He said the trophies presented were achieved in line with those instructions, adding that the club was honoured to present them to Mama Ida on Raila’s behalf.
Mama Ida Odinga warmly received the team, expressing joy at hosting them and reaffirming her continued support for the club. She encouraged them to keep visiting and congratulated the players for their dedication and hard work.
She noted that the day was especially meaningful as it came after Raila’s passing, saying the family remained closely connected to the club and proud of its achievements.
Gor Mahia’s triumph secured their 22nd league title, further cementing their dominance in Kenyan football.
President William Ruto congratulated the team, praising their discipline, resilience, and consistency throughout the season. He also highlighted the club’s long-standing legacy and its influence on young footballers across the country.
He urged the team to carry Kenya’s pride into the CAF Champions League, expressing confidence that they would continue to perform strongly on the continental stage.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed also lauded Gor Mahia for their record-breaking 22nd league title and consistent excellence throughout the campaign.
