Police have arrested two suspects in Makindu, Makueni County, after a late-night operation exposed a suspected illegal donkey slaughtering ring in Kamboo sub-location.
According to area chief Jackson Kimende, the raid was conducted at around 12:30am, when officers stormed a forest area and discovered that about 20 donkeys had already been slaughtered.

He added that several individuals believed to be involved in the activity fled upon noticing the officers.
Authorities also intercepted a vehicle that was allegedly being used to transport the meat while it was being loaded, but the driver managed to escape.
The chief further noted that the vehicle’s rear number plate had been removed.
