Residents of Kibiku in Kiambu County were left in shock after the decomposed body of a middle-aged woman was discovered inside a house belonging to a suspect who had earlier been arrested for jumping bail.
The suspect had been taken into custody on Wednesday morning over a case pending in court. Before his arrest, he reportedly asked his cousin to visit his house to collect documents related to the matter.

Police said the cousin became concerned after noticing a strong foul smell coming from the bedroom. Upon checking, he discovered the naked, decomposed body of a woman lying on the bed.
Authorities said the body had bruises and injuries on the face and upper limbs, and blood was seen coming from the mouth, nostrils, and private parts, indicating the woman may have been assaulted before being left in the house.
Investigators believe the condition of the body suggests the woman had been dead for more than two days. The suspect, who is already in police custody, is expected to face murder charges.
The body was taken to the mortuary as police work to identify the woman and conduct a post-mortem examination.
The motive behind the suspected killing is not yet known, and investigations are ongoing. A large crowd gathered at the scene as the body was removed.
In a separate incident in Juja, Kiambu County, Samson Musyimi, a lecturer in the medical department at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), was found dead in his house.
A friend who had not seen him for several days went to check on him after he failed to answer phone calls and messages. Police later forced open the locked door and found Musyimi lying on his bed with no visible injuries.
Police said Musyimi had previously been diagnosed with liver problems. Several medicines, including drugs used to treat hypertension and diabetes, were found in the house.
His body was also moved to the mortuary pending a post-mortem examination as authorities continue investigations into both incidents.
