Clement Kiarie, also known as Taylor, the driver of the bus involved in the tragic accident at Twin Bridge on Tuesday, January 7, has been formally charged.
Appearing before Molo Principal Magistrate Daisy Mosse on Thursday, January 11, Kiarie faced charges including 15 counts of causing death, 1 count of violating insurance regulations, 1 count of reckless driving, and another count for carrying 41 uninsured passengers. Despite denying the charges, he was granted release on a Ksh.1 million bond.
“The accused requires medical treatment, as he appears visibly injured,” ruled the magistrate.
The PSV bus driven by Kiarie was involved in the fatal accident that claimed 15 lives at the Twin Bridge area on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway on Tuesday. Following his arrest on Wednesday, he was held at the Mau Summit Police Station. The case is scheduled to be mentioned on January 29, 2024.
