The 27-year-old made the pledge shortly after receiving his winner’s certificate at Agoro Sare High School in Oyugis, promising to fulfill his campaign promises and work with all constituents.
“I still believe I am fit to serve as MP for Kasipul. I thank our people for their tremendous support,” Were said. He also commended the IEBC for conducting a credible election.
“We will unite our people and ensure service delivery across the constituency,” he added.
Were was joined by Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, MPs Peter Kaluma and Lilian Gogo, and MCAs Nicholas Owaka and Florence Ouma.
Wanga described Were’s victory as proof of ODM’s continued popularity in Kasipul and highlighted that the party also retained Magarini and Ugunja MP seats.
She called for an end to violence in the constituency and pledged collaboration with Were for development.
Gogo noted the win reflects the trust Kasipul residents have in youth leadership, while Ouma praised the electorate for overcoming challenges to elect Were.
