Police in Kisumu County have launched a manhunt for six armed robbers who carried out a brazen early morning heist at an M-Pesa shop located along Oginga Odinga Street, making away with Ksh.850,000 in cash and other valuables.

The 7 a.m. robbery stunned business owners along the busy street, as many tried to comprehend how such a violent incident could unfold in broad daylight.
According to a police report, the gang—armed with an AK-47 rifle and pistols—arrived at the premises aboard an unmarked motorcycle and a salon car. They forcefully entered the shop, where they fired two warning shots before assaulting two M-Pesa attendants with the buttstocks of their firearms.

The victims, identified as David Odhiambo and Grace Mumbi, sustained head injuries and were rushed to Kisumu County Hospital, where they are currently in stable condition.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) visited the crime scene and recovered two spent cartridges. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the suspects.

The incident has raised concerns about security lapses, particularly given that the robbery took place along a major street known for its high police presence, especially around nearby banks.
