Wetang’ula stated that under Ruto’s leadership, the Kenya Kwanza administration has achieved significant progress in its two years in office. He made the remarks during a church service in Igembe North, Meru County, where he reaffirmed the government’s dedication to delivering on its campaign pledges.

Among the key issues the government is addressing, he said, is unemployment—a challenge that has drawn criticism from the public.

“I appeal to the people of Meru to stand firmly behind President Ruto’s government because his record in development justifies a second term,” Wetang’ula said.

He highlighted the strides made in the education sector, including the recruitment of 76,000 teachers during Ruto’s tenure. The recently passed budget allocates funds to hire an additional 24,000 teachers, bringing the total to 100,000—marking the largest teacher recruitment since Kenya’s independence.

Wetang’ula joins other leaders close to the President who have voiced their support for his re-election bid, especially amid growing opposition efforts to limit his term to one.

Earlier in the week, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale also expressed confidence in Ruto’s re-election.

In a Citizen TV interview, Duale said the ruling coalition has enough support to secure a sweeping victory in 2027.

He stressed that Ruto will be re-elected purely on the strength of his performance.

“William Ruto will return with a landslide, God willing. His second term is certain,” Duale remarked.

“He will win because he delivers on his promises.”
