Odinga had proposed the formation of a “national conclave” to address economic struggles and human rights concerns, calling for civic engagement to chart a new course for the country.
The proposal came amid increasing public dissatisfaction with the government, marked by protests and police crackdowns during the 35th Saba Saba anniversary.
Speaking to Kenyans in Seattle, Washington, Gachagua criticized Odinga as an opportunist who often pushes for talks with sitting administrations, only to withdraw when challenges arise.
“Raila is irrelevant in the political conversation. Every election, he loses, negotiates his way into government, but refuses to take responsibility,” said Gachagua. “When things go wrong, he steps aside and blames others.”
He further alleged that Odinga’s latest push for dialogue is driven by discomfort with the political heat facing President William Ruto’s administration, stating: “If he truly cared for Kenya, he would step back from double standards instead of speaking with a full mouth.”

Gachagua maintained that the only real path to change is through the ballot box in 2027, urging citizens to endure the remaining two years and vote for a leadership overhaul.
“We’ve had enough of endless dialogue. It has never solved Kenya’s problems. What we need is genuine, transformational leadership. Let’s face our issues head-on and resolve them decisively at the ballot,” he said.
He concluded that negotiating with President Ruto would be futile, arguing that any such talks would be insincere and ineffective.
