Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki conducted an inspection on Friday of the ongoing efforts to reclaim and restore various parts of the Nairobi Rivers Corridor.
Kindiki highlighted that 40,000 households have willingly relocated from the riparian zones of Nairobi, Mathare, and Ngong Rivers, as well as other smaller tributaries.
He mentioned that the government has fulfilled its promise to assist each household with Sh10,000 to aid in their relocation to alternative rental accommodations.
Kindiki emphasized that these families will receive priority consideration in the Affordable Housing Programme.
