In his message welcoming the Pope to Africa, Kalonzo emphasized that Kenya needs prayers and blessings to strengthen social harmony and promote responsible leadership. He noted that he is inspired by the Pontiff’s commitment to peace, human dignity, and the importance of family as the foundation of society.
Through an open letter, Kalonzo warmly received the Pope on his first apostolic journey as the 267th leader of the Catholic Church, asking him to pray for lasting peace, unity, and selfless leadership in Kenya.
He also expressed hope that the Pope would visit Kenya in the future, highlighting the strong and friendly ties between the country and the Vatican.
Kalonzo further described Africa as a continent rich in faith, resilience, and hope, saying the Pope’s visit reflects the Church’s message of love and unity.

Pope Leo is currently on an 11-day tour of Africa from April 13 to 23, 2026—his first major international trip since becoming Pope. He has already visited Algeria and is now in Cameroon, with Angola and Equatorial Guinea next on his itinerary. During the tour, he has called for peace, including an end to conflicts in Cameroon and the broader Middle East.
