Police in Bungoma South are investigating a fatal mob attack in Khalaba village where a man was lynched in a case of mistaken identity.

The victim, a casual labourer, had gone to the home of his former mother-in-law in an attempt to reconcile with his ex-wife.
However, his unexpected presence raised suspicion, prompting locals to raise an alarm.
A mob quickly gathered and stoned him, inflicting serious injuries. He later died from the wounds.
Police have launched a manhunt for those involved in the attack and have strongly condemned mob justice, noting that such acts often target innocent individuals or those falsely accused.
