Speaking on the Truth platform, Trump said he would hold a press conference at 10:00 a.m. in Washington, D.C. (3:00 p.m. BST) to reveal the agreement with representatives of what he described as “a great, and very respected country.” He did not disclose further details.

Several U.S. media outlets suggest the deal is likely with the United Kingdom, citing sources familiar with the matter. The BBC has reached out to both the White House and the UK Department for Trade and Industry for official confirmation.

Earlier, on April 2, Trump had imposed significant tariffs on key trading partners but later introduced a 90-day pause to allow for negotiations. This prompted a flurry of efforts by governments worldwide to finalize deals before the grace period ends.

The UK remains subject to a 25% tariff on steel, aluminum, and cars exported to the U.S.

In addition to talks with the UK, reports indicate the U.S. is nearing trade agreements with India and Israel and is also engaged in negotiations with countries such as Japan, South Korea, and Vietnam.

Trump has emphasized his intention to have countries enter new trade arrangements with the U.S. as part of a broader effort to restructure the global trade system.
