You Won’t Believe She Didn’t Bath or Pee for 3 Days

Environmental activist Truphena Muthoni has revealed that she did not take any bathroom breaks during her record-breaking 72-hour tree-hugging marathon.

In an interview on Sunday, December 14, 2025, Muthoni explained that she did not feel the need to use the bathroom because she was fasting throughout the challenge and was not taking any water.

The 22-year-old also said she controlled the urges to urinate through mental focus.

“During the hugging, I wasn’t drinking water, but in preparation, I drank plenty to get ready for the three days. I never felt the need to use the bathroom; I control it through my mind,” Truphena said.

Why she invited people to talk to her

Truphena also shared why she encouraged people to speak to her during the 72-hour challenge. She said the interactions helped her stay focused and mentally strong throughout the ordeal.

Contrary to what many expected, she noted that hugging the tree for long hours did not strain her arms. She had prepared both her body and mind through consistent practice prior to the challenge.

“My arms didn’t get tired while hugging. I felt a bit cold when it rained, but I was able to manage because I had practiced for that as well,” Truphena explained.

During her training, she had already exposed herself to harsh weather, including heavy rain, which taught her how to cope during the actual challenge.

“There was a time I was rained on during practice. On the first day, it dried up naturally. On the second day, it was heavy, so I had heaters around me. You can’t do that when people are around,” she added.

Truphena also addressed the misconception that talking to her might tire her. On the contrary, she said conversing with people kept her mind active, preventing mental fatigue.

“Some thought people shouldn’t talk to me because it might make me tired, but I invite conversation all the time—it keeps my mind active; otherwise, I’d shut down,” she stated.
