The arrests were made by detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau in the Nyanza Region, working in coordination with officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Nyando.

One of the women allegedly shared an image of herself holding a pistol, accompanied by a caption warning that any man who attempted to leave her would face serious consequences. The post raised alarm among viewers and was quickly flagged to authorities.

Detectives launched a swift investigation and tracked her down. Upon interrogation, she led them to a rented two-bedroom house belonging to a close friend, who has since been arrested as a co-suspect.

During a thorough search of the house, officers discovered the firearm—an empty pistol—wrapped in clothes and hidden in a basin under the bed. They also recovered a fake motorcycle number plate, marked KMGG 805M.

“The pistol was found concealed under a bed, and a counterfeit number plate was also seized during the operation,” the DCI said.

Both women were taken into custody and are being processed ahead of their arraignment in court.

Investigations are ongoing as detectives work to uncover the origins of the weapon and determine if additional individuals are involved.

This case comes shortly after two men were charged at the Kahawa Law Courts for allegedly operating fraudulent social media accounts impersonating senior government officials with the intent to scam unsuspecting citizens.

Authorities say one of the suspects created and sold multiple fake accounts after training buyers on how to run scams. His accomplice was reportedly one of the trainees, found impersonating a top government figure.

These incidents highlight the growing concern over the misuse of social media platforms and the seriousness with which law enforcement treats such offenses.
