Tanzanian activist Maria Tsehai Sarungi has been released after reports emerged that she was kidnapped by three armed men in Nairobi, Kenya.

He posted on his X account that he was safe and that would provide more information about his abduction on Monday.
Maria Tsehai, a vocal critic of Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu’s administration, fled to Kenya in 2020, seeking asylum after facing increased threats under the government of the late President John Magufuli.
In recent months, he expressed concerns to Amnesty International about his safety, reporting an incident where two unknown men were seen searching his home while he was away.
