Speaking after the team’s 1-0 triumph over Morocco in the African Nations Championship (CHAN), Ruto expressed confidence in the squad’s ability to deliver.

“On Sunday, I want us to have a new deal. God willing, we are winning. If we win, each person — including the technical bench — will get Sh2.5 million,” he said.

He added that if Kenya advances past the quarter-finals, each team member will also receive Sh1 million and a house under the Affordable Housing Programme.

The Stars, making their CHAN debut, have already secured a quarter-final spot after Ryan Ogam’s 42nd-minute goal stunned two-time champions Morocco. The side defended their lead heroically after midfielder Chrispine Erambo’s first-half red card, with goalkeeper Bryne Omondi making vital saves to preserve the win.

Kenya remains unbeaten in Group A with seven points from three matches, and victory over Zambia would give them strong momentum heading into the knockout stage.
