Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua has declared that Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is the most capable contender to challenge and unseat President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV, Wambua expressed confidence in Kalonzo’s national appeal and his potential to secure a broad base of support across the country. He noted that Kalonzo has long supported other presidential candidates but now deserves his shot at the presidency.
“For years, Kalonzo has backed others in presidential races. Even in 2022, though he wasn’t Raila Odinga’s running mate, his supporters turned out in larger numbers than Raila received in his own Nyanza stronghold,” Wambua said.
He emphasized that no other leader is as well-positioned as Kalonzo to send Ruto home in 2027.
Wambua further stressed that Kalonzo’s presidential ambitions will not be hindered by his cordial relations with other top figures in the opposition. Kalonzo has hinted at forming a strong alliance to take on Ruto, bringing together seasoned political players.
Key allies in this emerging coalition include former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, and Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) boss Eugene Wamalwa. Wamalwa previously suggested that the group is a revival of the powerful team that helped elect the late President Mwai Kibaki in 2002.
“Our team is growing. Justin Muturi has joined, Fred Matiang’i is coming on board, Martha Karua is already with us. We’re rebuilding the NARC movement for 2027,” Wamalwa told NTV.
Meanwhile, Gachagua has hinted at a strategic plan by the opposition to counter Ruto’s re-election bid. He promised to reveal full details in December 2026, confirming that Kalonzo will be central to the opposition’s strategy.
