In a groundbreaking development, Nick Mulila Commissioners, in collaboration with the Safaricom Mpesa Foundation, have unveiled a modern dormitory at St. Charles Lwanga School, capable of accommodating up to 800 students.
Valued at 53 million shillings, this project represents a significant investment in educational infrastructure in the region.

The involvement of the Safaricom Mpesa Foundation highlights the pivotal role that private sector entities can play in bolstering educational facilities, particularly in underserved areas.
By providing funding for the construction of the hostel, the foundation not only addresses the immediate need for accommodation but also sets a precedent for similar initiatives in the region and beyond.

The partnership between the Safaricom Mpesa Foundation, fundraising efforts, and contributions from parents underscores the collaborative approach required to realize ambitious projects like this.
This multi-stakeholder engagement model serves as a blueprint for future endeavors, showcasing how different entities can come together for the betterment of the community.

Of note is the foundation’s decision to focus on boys’ hostels, expanding its previous support for girls’ hostels. This inclusive approach ensures that all students, regardless of gender, have access to quality accommodation, fostering a conducive learning environment for everyone.
Looking ahead, plans are underway to construct a mega dining hall, indicating that this project marks just the beginning of broader initiatives to upgrade the school’s facilities.

Such investments are expected to not only benefit students directly but also stimulate local development by creating job opportunities and increasing demand for local services.
