Safaricom has introduced Ziidi, a fresh investment platform integrated with its flagship mobile financial service, M-Pesa, designed to make wealth creation more accessible for its users.

This launch coincides with M-Pesa’s 18th anniversary, marking its debut in March 2007.
Today, M-Pesa stands as one of Africa’s leading fintech solutions, serving over 70 million customers across 170 countries and supporting more than one million businesses and agents.
The platform handles up to 100 million transactions daily, offering secure, instant, and reliable financial services that have significantly advanced financial inclusion and economic growth across Africa.
“M-PESA has empowered millions with affordable financial services. As smartphone adoption grows across Africa, we are transitioning into a digital financial services provider, connecting customers and businesses to new opportunities through tech-driven solutions,” said Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa.
He also highlighted M-Pesa’s robust developer ecosystem, which includes more than 55,000 integrations on its Daraja platform, supporting over 100,000 developers.
“We are expanding the platform to facilitate quicker development of new products and services, while enhancing stability and reliability,” added Esther Waititu, Safaricom’s Chief Financial Services Officer.
