William Ruto drew laughter in Tanzania’s Parliament after humorously explaining why he opted to speak in English instead of Kiswahili.
While addressing legislators during his state visit, Ruto playfully narrated a fictional “journey” of Kiswahili—saying it began in Zanzibar, flourished in Tanzania, but “fell ill” in Kenya and “died” in Uganda before being “buried” in Congo.

He then joked that, to avoid getting it wrong, he would proceed with his speech in English.
His remarks amused members of the chamber as he continued delivering his address.
Ruto is in Tanzania on an official visit focused on strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries.
