A painting job turned tragic after a 35-year-old man lost his life following a fall from the third floor of a house under construction in Kizingo, Mombasa County.
According to police and witnesses, Josephat Wafula was painting a wall on Saturday when he reportedly slipped and fell to the basement level. He was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Officers visited the scene to document the incident before the body was taken to the mortuary as investigations continue. The incident adds to growing concerns over rising accidents at construction sites, with renewed calls for stricter safety measures for workers.
In separate incidents, two children drowned in Vihiga and Mombasa counties.
In Muhudu area of Cheptulu, Vihiga County, a two-year-old boy drowned in a water-filled trench at his home. The child was taken to hospital but was declared dead. The region has been experiencing heavy rainfall. His body was moved to the mortuary.
In Kiembeni, Mombasa County, a four-year-old girl drowned after falling into an uncovered well while playing with friends. Her body was later retrieved and taken to the mortuary pending further procedures.
Meanwhile, in Kiplombe area of Soy, Uasin Gishu County, the body of a man was discovered at a cemetery on Saturday, days after his death. Police are investigating whether he was killed elsewhere and the body dumped at the site. The remains were moved to the mortuary for postmortem and identification.
Elsewhere in Ivona, Vihiga County, a 32-year-old miner died at a sand harvesting site, the latest in a string of fatal incidents reported in mining areas. Authorities have raised concern over increasing accidents in sand and gold mining sites.
On February 22, 2026, Willis Kidwaro went missing while harvesting sand in Buhani area after the walls of a pit collapsed and trapped him. His colleagues were unaware he had been buried under the debris.
Family members raised alarm after he failed to return home that evening. Four days later, his decomposing body was found covered in sand at the site. Police said the body was moved to the mortuary as investigations into the incident continue.
