Ruto Kicks Out Nyakera as KEMSA Chair

President Ruto has removed Irungu Nyakera from his role as chairperson of the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA), a position he held for just under a year.

According to a Gazette Notice dated August 22, Nyakera is being succeeded by former Narok Governor Samuel Tunai. Nyakera, who assumed the position on May 15, 2023, was originally appointed for a three-year term.

The notice specifies that Tunai will now take over as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of KEMSA, starting August 23, 2024, and will serve for a three-year term.

President Ruto has officially revoked Nyakera’s appointment. Nyakera is being reassigned to a new role as chairperson of the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC) for a three-year term.

Additionally, Adelina Mwau’s appointment as KICC chairperson has been terminated. Mwau, the former deputy governor of Makueni, was appointed to the KICC role on April 19, 2023, with a similar three-year term.
