Reflecting on his journey to the presidency, Ruto acknowledged that some still struggle to accept he holds the position.

“I’m just an ordinary person. I got here through the grace of God. Even now, there are those who don’t believe I am the president,” he said.

The president made the remarks while hosting Nairobi United FC, winners of the 2025 Mozzart Bet Cup, at State House. Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and other leaders were present at the event.

He added in Swahili, “Lakini Mungu ni nani? Mimi ndiyo niko hapa kwa sasa, wajipange,” implying that his critics should come to terms with his leadership.

Ruto responded to critics who claim he has diminished the stature of the presidency by inviting ordinary citizens to State House. He dismissed the notion, expressing pride in his humble roots, including his background in poultry farming.

“I’m a chicken farmer — and it’s a great business. It pays well. I can even give you tips,” he said, adding that many of his friends have joined the venture.

The president reiterated that the youth are Kenya’s most valuable asset. He encouraged young people to embrace humble beginnings, assuring them that their goals are attainable.

He also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to youth empowerment through investments in education, skills development, and talent nurturing to help grow the economy.
