Russia and Kenya are expanding their collaboration, aiming for mutual advantages across various fields.
The recent appointment of a highly experienced Russian diplomat as the new ambassador is expected to enhance these relations and boost cooperation in important areas.
Vsevolod Tkachenko, a seasoned diplomat with over 40 years of expertise, has been named Russia’s new ambassador to Kenya and permanent representative to international organizations in Nairobi.
He succeeds Dmitry Maksimychev, as announced by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Born in 1960, Tkachenko earned his degree from MGIMO University (Moscow State Institute of International Relations). He previously served as Russia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and Representative to the African Union from 2014 to 2019.
Since 2020, he has led the Department of Africa in the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Tkachenko is fluent in both English and Swahili.
