Waeni lost her life on January 14, 2024, at a short-term accommodation facility in the Roysambu area of Nairobi, where her body was horrifically mutilated. According to the apartment manager, the suspected perpetrator had rented the room the day before the tragic incident.

The discovery of suspicious items and bloodstains prompted the authorities to investigate further, ultimately leading to the grim discovery of Waeni’s dismembered body. Subsequent forensic examinations revealed that she had been strangled before her body was mutilated.
Following a thorough investigation, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested and charged two Nigerian nationals in connection with the murder.
