Spokesperson Lin Jian highlighted the long-standing ties between Kenya and China, dating back to the days of the ancient Maritime Silk Road.
He noted that in the current era, the two nations enjoy a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, marked by regular high-level engagements, growing political trust, significant achievements under the Belt and Road Initiative, and strong collaboration on both regional and global matters.
During the visit, President Xi will host a formal welcome ceremony and banquet for President Ruto, and the two leaders will hold bilateral talks.
Additionally, President Ruto will meet with Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Lin added.
“We believe this visit will further strengthen China-Kenya relations, help implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and promote the building of a robust China-Africa community with a shared future, while enhancing unity and cooperation among Global South countries,” Lin said.
