President Ruto Departs for Key Diplomatic Meetings Uganda

President William Ruto is scheduled to depart the country on Thursday to participate in two summits in Kampala, Uganda.

State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed announced that the President will first attend a meeting of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), focusing on regional cooperation and development to support stability and progress in the Eastern African region.

Following this, on Friday, President Ruto will be present at the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement. The summit’s agenda encompasses significant global issues such as multilateralism, international peace, and strategies for post-Covid-19 recovery, as explained by Mohamed.

The summit, themed ‘Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence,’ will involve President Ruto contributing to discussions on key priorities, including United Nations reform, peace and security, Sustainable Development Goals, climate change, and the restructuring of the international financial system.

In addition to participating in these discussions, the President plans to engage in bilateral meetings with various Heads of State and leaders. The aim of these meetings is to reinforce diplomatic ties and underscore Kenya’s role in both regional and global affairs.
