Police in Dandora have seized a high-powered pistol following a tip-off from members of the public that led officers to trail suspicious individuals in the area.
The National Police Service said that at about 1:00 a.m. today, officers at Dandora Police Station received information that three men, suspected to be armed, had been seen in the Katoo area of Dandora Phase 5.

Police immediately moved to the scene, where they spotted the suspects. However, the men took off on foot after noticing the officers, abandoning a jacket as they fled.
A search of the jacket revealed a Desert Eagle .50 AE Magnum pistol, which was not loaded. The firearm was recovered and secured as an exhibit.
In a statement, the National Police Service praised members of the public for sharing timely information and lauded the officers for their swift response.
Investigations are ongoing as police hunt down the suspects with the aim of arresting and charging them in court.
Authorities say the operation is part of a wider crackdown on criminal gangs and organised crime, noting that cooperation from the public remains crucial in supporting effective policing.
