Lady Justice Njoki Ndungu has been elected unopposed as the Supreme Court’s representative to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), filling the vacancy left by the late Justice Mohammed Kadhar Ibrahim.
The election, held on Thursday, was overseen by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Returning Officer, Dr. Swalhah Yusuf, OGW. Justice Ndungu, a Supreme Court judge, secured the position without contest.
Her election follows the provisions of the Judicial Service Act, 2011, which requires the Supreme Court to submit a fresh nominee to the JSC within 21 days whenever a vacancy arises in the Commission.

Justice Ndungu’s appointment ensures continuity in the representation of the Supreme Court at the JSC, a constitutional body mandated to oversee the administration of justice, including the recruitment and discipline of judicial officers.

The vacancy occurred following the death of Justice Mohammed Kadhar Ibrahim, who previously represented the Supreme Court at the Commission.
