Speaking in Ngurubani, Kirinyaga County, on Saturday, Kalonzo stated that President William Ruto’s government has failed to address the ongoing struggles of farmers.
“The issue with this government is its failure to take responsibility and address the concerns of the citizens,” Kalonzo said.
The former Vice President highlighted that during his tenure with former President Mwai Kibaki, they worked to maintain a stable water flow in Thiba Dam to ensure year-round water supply, boosting rice production.

“Limit imports, and you’ll see the growth of our people. Why are we creating jobs for traders from other countries while denying opportunities for our own people?” Kalonzo asked.
The Wiper leader also alleged that some rice importers mix cheap imported rice with Mwea Pishori, damaging its quality.
