Mutula emphasized the importance of regional unity to drive development reforms.
As the National Vice-Chairperson of the Wiper Party, Mutula reflected on the aspirations of the region’s political figures, such as his late father Mutula Kilonzo Senior and Mulu Mutisya, who envisioned political and economic unity for the area, but whose dreams were unfulfilled.
“Let’s avoid being hostile towards our capable leader. We must come together as Ukambani residents. Our region remains divided and underdeveloped. It’s time to create an environment that fosters investment and job creation for our people,” said Mutula.
The governor committed to bringing all political leaders together to enhance the region’s economic development.
“We have the Lower Eastern South Eastern Kenya Economic Bloc (SEKEB), which unites the three Ukambani governors, including myself, Wavinya Ndeti of Machakos, and Julius Malombe of Kitui. This bloc plays a crucial role in strengthening regional unity,” he added.
He highlighted that SEKEB has formulated strategies to improve the lives of residents and foster unity.
Mutula pointed out that a shared agenda, rather than individual interests, would bind the region together, criticizing past divisions caused by grudges and personal agendas.
“Discipline in Ukambani is what will make Kalonzo more appealing to the rest of the country. We can’t afford to have some of us sabotaging others,” Mutula stated.
According to him, significant development, particularly from the national government, would only occur if leaders collaborated and lobbied together.
He made these remarks on Wednesday during the launch of a new Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) center at Wambuli Primary School as part of his ongoing development tour of Tulimani Ward.

The initiative is part of a wider program under the Department of Education, aimed at providing quality learning facilities for pre-primary children across the county.
In addition to the educational development, Governor Mutula and his team distributed 300 blankets to elderly residents of the ward to protect them from weather-related illnesses during the rainy season.
The tour also featured a legal land clinic, offering residents free legal services.
Governor Mutula was joined by Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili, Tulimani Ward MCA Kyalo Mumo, and other local leaders at the event.
