Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen

Murkomen Assures Public of Safety During Festive Season

As Kenyans celebrate the festive season, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has provided assurance that the country remains secure, emphasizing the nation’s progress in maintaining peace and safety.

Speaking to the public, Murkomen affirmed that their security is a top priority, especially as many travel for the holidays. “I want to assure the people of Kenya that their security is guaranteed, even as they go about their holiday business. Our security teams have done their very best to ensure your safety,” he stated.

Murkomen also highlighted the collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Transport to ensure smooth travel across the country. With increased movement expected during the festive period, the CS called on Kenyans to support these efforts. “We are working together to ensure that movement is secure and efficient. What I request from Kenyans is maximum support. Let us all behave responsibly and celebrate within the confines of the law,” he urged.

Acknowledging the potential risks of increased road traffic, Murkomen stressed the importance of responsible behavior, particularly when driving. He attributed some of the traffic congestion to reckless driving and emphasized the need for strict adherence to traffic laws. “We will take tough measures against individuals who break the law. We must all contribute to the betterment of our country,” he warned.

Murkomen’s remarks were made during a wedding event in Muhoroni, Kisumu County, where he was joined by Principal Secretary for Interior, Raymond Omollo. The CS also took the opportunity to thank the public for their role in maintaining peace during this holiday season. “Your resilience in living together and pursuing the best interests of our nation is commendable,” he added.

The CS shared positive reports from Kericho and Kisumu counties, where efforts to promote peaceful coexistence have led to a significant reduction in community conflicts. “Even in instances where there have been isolated cases, they are few and far between. We are making great strides in bringing communities together,” Murkomen noted.

Emphasizing the importance of unity, Murkomen stated, “As a country, we cannot progress if we do not live together in peace. The President has shown that he can ensure communities and the government represent the face of Kenya.”

Concluding his address, Murkomen reassured the nation that the foundation of security and peace in Kenya remains strong. “As we approach the new year, we are confident that we will continue to move to greater heights, working in a coordinated manner to ensure the safety and well-being of our nation,” he said.
