MCA Grace Nduta Arrested Over Fake Koimburi Abduction

Her arrest follows the recovery of a private vehicle linked to the incident—a Subaru Forester—found in Juja Township on Tuesday. The car is registered to a known political associate of Koimburi and a former UDA election agent.

Police allege that this vehicle was used to block Koimburi’s car just before the supposed abduction. Investigators are also tracing a motorcycle reportedly used to transport the MP from a residence in Juja to a coffee farm in Kiambu, where he was later discovered.

“This marks a significant step forward in our investigation,” said Police Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga.

He confirmed that the Subaru was identified as the car used to obstruct Koimburi’s vehicle prior to the alleged incident.

Koimburi was reportedly abducted on Sunday outside a church in Mugutha, Kiambu County, and was found the next morning in a coffee plantation. However, police now believe the entire episode was staged.

Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja dismissed the kidnapping claims as “political theatrics,” stating that officers found no evidence of a struggle at the alleged scene.

He added that video footage circulating online did not match the area where the abduction was said to have occurred, and that a farm caretaker, Moses Kariuki, denied witnessing anything unusual.

Koimburi is currently admitted at Karen Hospital in Nairobi, but has refused to give a statement or cooperate with investigators, despite receiving several visitors.

IG Kanja also questioned how Koimburi’s associates knew exactly where he was, and noted that he was taken to the hospital in his own car, which further raised doubts about the authenticity of the abduction.

The DCI continues to investigate the motive behind the incident, with additional arrests anticipated.
