Mama Ida Odinga, widow of Kenya’s former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has pledged to help Mumias East MP Peter Salasya find a wife.
The promise came during Salasya’s visit to Opoda Farm in Siaya County on Friday, where the youthful legislator playfully asked Mama Ida to assist him in finding a woman “as beautiful and graceful” as she is.

“Nakuomba wewe kama kijana mdogo, wakati nataka kuoa, nipate bibi kama wewe,” Salasya said, adding that he would like a private chat with her to discuss a few personal matters.
Responding to his request, Mama Ida agreed to take up the challenge, assuring him that she would personally help identify a suitable partner.
“I have heard your request. You want me to help you find a lady from here — I won’t take that lightly. Daughters of Raila, I’ll look into this carefully,” she said, referring to the women from Suba West present at the event in honour of her late husband.
Her remarks drew laughter and cheers from the “Daughters of Raila,” who were thrilled by the playful exchange.
Mama Ida emphasized that she would take the matter seriously to ensure Salasya finds a fitting match among the group.

Salasya has often spoken about his search for a wife. In a 2022 interview with The Standard, he revealed that he was looking for a God-fearing, supportive, focused, and prayerful woman who could stand by him in his political journey.
“I’m just looking for a very prayerful, young, and supportive girl — someone who can connect with people in the countryside. Are you willing to join me as we look for votes?” he said then.
He also stressed that he wasn’t rushing the decision, saying:
“I’m an exposed man, an MP — people know I’m intelligent and strong.”
Over the years, the humorous and outspoken lawmaker has repeatedly expressed his desire to settle down.
