WOTE, Dec 8, 2025 — A critical care nurse from Makindu Sub-County Hospital has been celebrated for her heroic response that helped save the life of Israel’s Ambassador to Kenya.
Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. has awarded MaryConcepta, a highly skilled critical care nurse, a commendation letter in recognition of her outstanding professionalism and dedication to service.
The honour stems from an incident last week when MaryConcepta, who was on leave, took up a locum shift at Serena Hotel. During the shift, Israel’s Ambassador to Kenya, Gideon Behar, suddenly fell ill.
Acting with urgency and precision, she provided immediate medical attention that stabilized the diplomat, drawing praise from hotel staff and medical colleagues.
Governor Mutula described her actions as a shining example of excellence in public service, noting that her calmness, competence, and compassion reflect the ethos he champions through his leadership philosophy, Wauni wa Kwika Nesa na Ulungalu.

MaryConcepta’s timely intervention not only underscored the critical role of healthcare workers in emergency situations but also brought honour to Makueni County’s medical fraternity.
