Titus Wambua was allegedly attacked on Saturday by an Administration Police officer based in Kithimani, Yatta sub-county.

Eyewitnesses claim the officer stormed into a house in the Kithimani area, where he found Wambua in a compromising situation with his girlfriend. The officer then allegedly attacked Wambua with a kitchen knife, stabbing him in the head, chest, and back.

Ironically, the same officer is said to have rushed Wambua to a nearby private hospital after the incident. However, word of the attack quickly spread, and angry residents attempted to storm the hospital, demanding the officer be handed over to them.

“We later learned what had happened. People were ready to deal with him before his colleagues arrived and rescued him,” a witness told The Star on condition of anonymity, fearing retaliation.

The situation outside the hospital grew tense as locals confronted police officers who responded to the scene, insisting the suspect be surrendered to them.

“Bring him out so we can ‘greet’ him properly,” one woman shouted in protest.

An armed plainclothes officer guarded a police vehicle as the suspect was escorted from the hospital and driven away.

Meanwhile, the woman at the centre of the love triangle is said to have gone into hiding following the incident.

Wambua was later transferred to Matuu Level 4 Hospital for specialised care. Speaking from his hospital bed, he recounted the ordeal.

“I was out drinking with my lover in Kithimani town. Later, we went to sleep. We didn’t lock the door, and that’s when the officer barged in and stabbed me several times, then took me to hospital,” Wambua explained.

The area’s Member of County Assembly, Paul Muli, condemned the incident, calling for immediate action.

“The officer must be arrested and taken to court without delay,” Muli stated.

Following public outrage, the suspect was arrested and detained at Yatta police station. He is expected to be arraigned at Kithimani Law Courts on Monday.
