Deputy President Kithure Kindiki

Politrack Survey: 62% of Kenyans Back Kindiki as Best Mt. Kenya Rep

A new survey by Politrack Africa Ltd has revealed that 62.1% of Kenyans believe Deputy President Kithure Kindiki is the most capable leader to represent the interests of Mt. Kenya voters.

The survey, conducted between November 9 and 13, 2024, demonstrates a strong public endorsement of Kindiki’s leadership, with significant support across various performance metrics.

Kindiki topped the rankings, leading the pack with a decisive 62.1% support. He was followed by Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, who garnered 17.7% of the vote, and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who secured 9.1%. The survey comes amid growing dissatisfaction in the Mt. Kenya region, particularly after Gachagua’s recent impeachment by Parliament.

Other notable figures in the survey include Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, who placed fourth with 6.2%, and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, who rounded out the top five with 3.1%.

Kindiki’s Strong Leadership Ratings

The survey, which involved 3,211 respondents from all 47 counties, highlighted Kindiki’s exceptional approval ratings. His leadership received widespread praise, with approval ranging from 69% to 78% in areas such as fulfilling his mandate, fostering regional unity, addressing national challenges, and promoting national cohesion.

“These findings underscore H.E. Kindiki’s growing influence and trust among the people, positioning him as a key figure in regional representation and national leadership,” Politrack Africa said in its report.

Moreover, a majority of respondents (62.1%) strongly agreed that Kindiki’s tenure as Deputy President has sparked renewed hope for the region, while only 3.4% disagreed.

Confidence in Kindiki’s Ability to Deliver

The poll also demonstrated strong confidence in Kindiki’s ability to meet the responsibilities of his office. A significant 63.4% of Kenyans expressed strong confidence in his capacity to deliver on his mandate, with only 2.3% of respondents voicing strong disagreement.

“While there is room for improvement in regional unity, the overall ratings reflect a favorable and optimistic public sentiment towards his leadership,” the report concluded.

This survey positions Kithure Kindiki as a prominent leader in Mt. Kenya, with a growing base of support that could shape the future political landscape of the region and the nation at large.
