A lorry driver was killed and several passengers injured after a brake-failure crash involving six vehicles, including two matatus, at Sachangwan on the Eldoret–Nakuru highway.

Lorry Driver Dies, Several Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash in Molo

A lorry driver was killed early Tuesday morning in a multi-vehicle accident at Sachangwan in Molo along the Eldoret–Nakuru highway around 3:40 am.

Reports indicate that the lorry lost control after brake failure and collided with six other vehicles, including two Nissan matatus.

Nakuru County traffic enforcement officer Emmanuel Opuru confirmed that the lorry driver died instantly at the scene, while several passengers sustained injuries and were taken to hospitals, including Molo Sub-County Hospital and the Provincial General Hospital (PGH) in Nakuru, for treatment.

Police were deployed to assist with rescue efforts and manage traffic, which was severely disrupted due to the crash. Rescuer Rachel Maru noted that congestion lasted for hours as emergency teams cleared the wreckage.

Sachangwan and nearby Migaa are known accident-prone areas along the highway. A similar crash in March 2025 at Migaa claimed at least 14 lives.

The deceased driver’s body has been transported to a funeral home in Molo, while authorities continue tracing and documenting other victims receiving medical attention.
